Honorable Chief Minister Sardar Charanjit Singh Channi graced the second day of the FAP National Awards

Around 800 teachers were honored from all the 23 districts of Punjab and 16 states across the country

It may be recalled that the Federation of Private Unaided Schools and the Association of Punjab has been making continuous efforts to encourage the teachers teaching in private schools and to raise the standard of education in private schools. The Federation wants everyone who is working in the field of education in the private sector to be recognised in the society for their contribution. Accompanying the honourable Chief Minister was the second chief guest Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi, an actor of Punjabi films and known as the Comedy King. The Chief Minister was the first to arrive in the venue and was welcomed by the Federation President Dr. Jagjit Singh Ji Dhuri, Chancellor Chandigarh University Mr. Satnam Singh Ji Sandhu, Federation legal Convener Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and the entire Core Committee. Upon their reception, the students of Chandigarh University extended their welcome with the University band, NCC cadets and cultural team. The lamp was lit by Chief Minister, Federation President Dr. Jagjit Singh Dhuri and Chancellor Chandigarh University Mr. Satnam Singh Sandhu. The CM in his speech apprised the federation for their system for the education of Punjab and said that now the whole Punjab is looking at him with a hope and especially the private school institutions which are still suffering from Covid-19. They are still trying to get out from below and want their identity in this profession. Giving his example, he said that in the past there was no private school and today educationists have set up about 9000 schools across Punjab. After this the President of the Federation Dr. Jagjit Singh Ji Dhuri apprised the Chief Minister about the Federation and its performance, achievements in his speech and said that the state government should not charge electricity bill as commercial to the private schools in the name of being charitable institutions. Introducing the FAP National Award, he said that apart from all the 23 districts of Punjab, teachers from 16 states across the country wrote and made videos about their teaching skills and sent them to the federation which was evaluated by the independent authority. In addition, Chandigarh University also made a valuable contribution in the assessment. Around 800 teachers were honored and out of which teachers from Fatehgarh Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Moga, Mohali, Nawanshahr, Patiala, Ropar, Sangrur were honored on October 2nd and on October 3rd teachers from Amritsar, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Kuparthala, Mansa, Muktsar and Pathankot districts, and 16 states across the country were honored. Giving an example, he said that the system in operation today is that a teacher who is appointed at 150, 200 kms and travels four-five hours every day. He assured that they are committed to meet the needs of the teachers whatever their needs may be. He said about himself that he was a common man and he would ensure access of every Punjabi to him at all times. He said that the shortcomings in the field of education would be rectified very soon. Apart from this, comedy king and shining star of Punjabi film industry Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi shared his thoughts with the teachers and appealed them not to turn a blind eye to the Punjabi language. He said in his famous humorous style that you are giving education in very good facilities, you are very lucky and the students of private schools also enjoy high quality facilities. He said that when we were studying, if someone asked where the fifth class is, the answer would be under the pipal tree, where the eighth class is, the answer would be under the tahli. He said in his own way that today’s students do not even understand the meaning of most Punjabi words which is ridiculous in itself. During the function, the Giddha and Bhangra team of Chandigarh University transmitted a high level of energy in their own style. The Chief Guest honored those who illuminated the educated world with their wisdom. District Presidents and District Core Committee members from all the districts of the Federation were present. Apart from the State President of the Federation Dr. Jagjit Singh Ji Dhuri, Convener Punjab Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini, Senior Vice President Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Vice President Mr. Manmohan Singh, Vice President Mr. Sukhjinder Singh, Secretary Mr. Bhupinder Singh Patiala, Joint Secretary Mr. Anil Mittal were the dignitaries. Thus, the colorful day 2 FAP National Awards for Teachers came to an end with utter grace and positivity.
